This August, the heart of Upper Hammonds Plains will be beating stronger than ever. Whether you’ve stayed rooted or moved away, this is your invitation to come home—to gather, celebrate, and honour all that we are.

Three unforgettable days to reflect on our powerful history, celebrate our present, and build new memories for the future.

It’s been 210 years since our ancestors—freed Black settlers—built this community with strength, courage, and vision. Their legacy lives in each of us, and this is our moment to carry it forward.

Here’s what’s in store:
Friday Night: We’re starting the weekend in style at our Community Gala—dress up, show out, and raise a toast to our roots.

Saturday: It’s all about joy and connection at Family Fun Day—games, food, music, and laughter at the Community Centre.

Sunday: We’ll gather in unity and praise at Emmanuel Baptist Church to close the weekend with spirit and reflection.

Whether you’ve never left or you’ve been away for years—this is your home.
Let’s come together in love, pride, and purpose.

We’re thrilled to announce the completion of the groundbreaking Housing Solutions Lab Report, a first-of-its-kind endeavor in Nova Scotia! This marks a monumental achievement for the Upper Hammonds Plains Community Land Trust. But the celebration doesn’t stop there! Join us on June 18th from 6-8 pm for an unforgettable event where we’ll dive into the details and answer all your burning questions.
This initiative has truly united us, laying the groundwork for a vibrant community-driven future. We’ve emphasized membership and governance, and now, we’re eager to share our progress with you!

Additionally, the UHPCLT Board and staff embarked on an enlightening journey to Oakland, Minnesota, and Georgia to explore the best practices of other Community Land Trusts. We are thrilled to announce that we have returned, equipped with a wealth of knowledge and innovative strategies to enhance our community.
